I was born to bookworms in New York City, a stone’s throw away from marvelous bookstores such as the Strand and Books of Wonder. I have been a compulsive writer since before I could hold a pen, forming stories in my head while hanging upside down from the climbing frames of the Washington Square Park playground, and dictating them to my typist parents. Once I learned to write my own stories, and illustrate them, I began to fill reams and reams of paper.
When I looked up, it was to devour books or watch films and shows. From this voracious consumption of stories in multiple media, I developed an instinctive sense of cast, structure and rhythm. As a child, I created clay animations but as I got older, I became drawn to video editing and the art of exquisite timing, mood-setting, and effective combination of footage and music.
I have always been particularly fond of antagonists, as well as dark comedy and dialogue, and thoroughly enjoyed writing an original play Necessary Evil, in which a dozen famous cinema villains find themselves in mandatory group therapy sessions. It was rewarding to watch the finished play being staged by the Grace Theater Company. Now to finish a novel in my second favorite genre, horror, which is titled The Barbed Wire Boy, hence the name of this website.
I graduated from Bard College in the Spring of 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Written Arts. At Bard, I discovered the joys of writing non-fiction in the form of essays, and developed a profound interest in the issues that are threatening life on Earth. This led to a new interest which I hope to pursue: copy-writing for subjects that I am passionate about, such as wildlife, the natural sciences, and travel.
